Flower Mound Parks and Recreation Win Gold Medal Award!

The Town of Flower Mound was recently recognized for its excellence in the field of Parks and Recreation Management by the Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS). The Town was selected to receive the 2015 Texas Gold Medal Award, which honors communities throughout the state that demonstrate excellence in long-range planning, resource management, community programs and events, marketing efforts, and agency recognition during the last three years. Flower Mound is the only Class III city (Populations 50,001 to 100,000) in the state to receive this designation in 2015. The TRAPS award was officially presented at the TRAPS Annual Institute in Abilene on March 5, and a presentation was made at the Town's PALS Board meeting on March 17.

Parks and Trails

The Parks and Recreation Division maintains more than 1052 acres of parkland. This includes approximately 59 miles of 8' multi-purpose trails that link together parks, neighborhoods, schools, and businesses and 2 miles of equestrian trails. There are 9 miles of equestrian trails and 14 miles of unpaved hike and bike trails for public use within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers park property along the northern shores of Grapevine Lake.


Heritage Park

Construction on Phase III of Heritage Park has been completed, and a grand opening ceremony was held on April 28. Residents can enjoy 25 additional lighted parking spaces, concrete sidewalk and trail additions, a splash pad with shade structures, a restroom building, erosion control, and a new performance pavilion.
